An invitation was sent to the Earl of Stair to lay the foundation stone, which was then laid with full Masonic Honours on 6th October 1883.
Almost exactly one year after the laying of the foundation stone, the building was completed for just under £3200, ready for opening and remains today virtually unaltered. It is mainly constructed of hard Scottish whinstone with facings and the crow-stepped gable facing Lewis Street of Annan red freestone.
A dignified setting, with comfortable seating arrangements to provide solace and support to mourners at funerals. Additionally, we have the facilities to provide audiovisual presentations, allowing for heartfelt photo tributes to honour and celebrate the life of your loved one.
Ample space for the wedding party and officiant. Equipped with audio facilities to play music of your choice and a grand balcony. A majestic organ as it’s centrepiece - its intricate pipes adding a touch of classical charm, providing the perfect backdrop for your big day.
